Adventure, Walks & Roasts – A Weekend at Coastal Cabins
We recently had a lovely message from a guest asking about things to do nearby for her thrill-seeking husband, dog-loving family, and roast-hunting crew. Safe to say — we had plenty of ideas to share!
If you’re looking to pack a bit of everything into your stay at Coastal Cabins, here’s a round-up of some of our favourite local gems, all within easy reach of the cabins.
🌲 For the Adventurers
Ultimate Adventure Centre (25 mins away)
Think high ropes, climbing walls, assault courses and general action-packed mayhem. Great for kids and big kids alike!

North Devon Wake Park (10 mins away)
Wakeboarding, an inflatable aqua park, and rubber ring rides – perfect for sunny days and water lovers.

Theme Parks
While not quite Alton Towers, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are fun-packed days out with rides, shows, and farmyard fun — especially for younger guests.

🐾 For the Walkers (and the Waggy Tails)
We’re lucky to be right on the South West Coast Path, with over 50 miles of dramatic coastal walking right on our doorstep. Some highlights:
Hartland Quay – clifftop views, sea spray, and a hearty pint at the end
Speke’s Mill Waterfall – stunning scenery and great surf
Blackchurch Rock & Hartland Point – hidden gems for explorers
Clovelly – yes, you can walk there!
Prefer something off the beaten path? There are plenty of country footpaths and lanes to get wonderfully lost in. And for beachy walks, we recommend:
Sandy Mouth and Westward Ho! – great for surfing too!
Welcombe Mouth and Duck Pool – wild, rugged, and less touristy
Note: Hartland Quay beach isn’t dog-friendly, but many others nearby are 🐶

The Hart Inn (Hartland)
Just down the road. Fantastic roasts and perfect for bigger groups – booking recommended.
The Farmers Arms (Woolsery)
Voted Best Pub in England, no biggie. About 15 minutes away and worth every minute.
Whether you’re swinging from zip lines, strolling along clifftops, or tucking into roast potatoes, there’s something for everyone just minutes from your cabin door.
